Amazon AWS - Sherco Power Plant

Amazon has acquired a 348-acre parcel in Becker, Minnesota, for a new data center project. The land, purchased for $73.6 million from Elk River Technologies, was previously part of Xcel Energy's Sherco site. This strategic acquisition is expected to bring significant economic growth and job creation to the area, with plans for 1,200 construction jobs and 100 permanent roles once the data center is operational.

The site will be developed into a turnkey data center, with an estimated $1 billion investment in the city of Becker. This project aligns with Amazon's broader strategy to expand its data center infrastructure to meet growing customer demand.
