The Consolidated Communications Des Moines Data Center is a state-of-the-art facility spanning 500 square feet, designed to be accessible 24/7/365. It features a raised floor with sub-floor cooling, strategically located outside the downtown flood plain for enhanced safety and reliability. The data center offers a variety of rack space options, including a full 45U secured cabinet and a half rack 22U lockable unit, with rack dimensions accommodating equipment up to 36 inches deep. Each rack comes with a redundant 110 volt 20 amp circuit, and alternative power options are available upon request.
In terms of security, the data center is protected by 24-hour on-site guards, card access entry with separate systems for the building and data center itself, a biometric recognition system for secure entry, and a DVR-based video surveillance system. The electrical power infrastructure is robust, featuring three redundant transformers each with a separate substation feed, and a switchable backup to a secondary substation, supported by a commercial-grade 65KVA generator.
The environmental control system is managed by A/C units via a Liebert system HVAC, with both HVAC and fire suppression systems being 100 percent backed by the generator. This ensures that temperature and humidity are precisely controlled and monitored by alarms. For fire suppression, the facility employs a water-based system, complemented by smoke and water detectors, to provide comprehensive safety measures.
