Prologis' Project Steel is an expansive data center development planned for Yorkville, Illinois. The project spans approximately 540 acres and will feature 24 two-story data center buildings, collectively covering over 9 million square feet. Each building is designed to be 400,000 square feet in size. The campus will also include three substations to support its operations.
The development is set to unfold in three phases over 20 years, with construction on the first phase anticipated to begin in the summer of 2027. The site, currently used for seasonal farming, will be rezoned from residential to industrial use to accommodate the data center campus. This initiative highlights Prologis' growing interest in the data center sector, complementing its expertise in logistics and industrial real estate.
