Virtus Data Centres has unveiled plans for a cutting-edge data center campus in Saunderton, Buckinghamshire, UK. Spanning a 50-acre site, this campus will feature four state-of-the-art data center buildings, delivering a total IT capacity of 75MW. Construction is set to begin in Q4 2024, with operations expected to commence by Q2 2026.
The campus is designed to support the growing demands of hyperscale, government, and enterprise customers, particularly in the realm of AI and cloud computing. It will utilize advanced cooling technologies and accommodate high-performance computing workloads, with racks capable of exceeding 100kW per rack.
Sustainability is a key focus for Virtus, as the campus will be powered entirely by renewable energy sources, including solar, wind, and tidal power. Additional eco-friendly initiatives include rainwater harvesting, waste heat utilization for nearby farming, and a zero-waste-to-landfill principle. Virtus aims to achieve LEED Gold accreditation for sustainability and has committed to carbon offset payments to support local environmental projects.
This development marks a significant step in Virtus' strategic growth, reinforcing its commitment to providing advanced data center facilities in the UK while expanding its operations across Europe.
