VTESSE/LOCATE Vtesse's Hoddesdon Data Centre provides for a wide range of customer co-location and hosting needs. "Hall One" is one of five halls within the facility and is designed for customers wishing to co-locate between 1 and 100 racks of computer, storage and networking equipment in communal managed space, or in cages within that space. Hall One is supported by n+1 power and cooling systems and enjoys direct connectivity to Vtesse's national fibre optic network and to all leading UK telehotels.
Hall One is designed for customers requiring affordable co-location, reliable power and cooling and best in class communications facilities for low and medium density equipment configurations requiring up to 5 kilowatts per rack.
Power and cooling The site enjoys diverse 11kV feeds to twin substations.
Sustainable energy supplies may be arranged as required.
On-site generators provide failover for National Grid power and are rated to match the available power to the site. Internally, all power distribution, Uninterrupted Power Supplies (UPS), Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), fire suppression and building management systems are configured to provide n+1 redundancy.
UPS systems protect against power failure and provide continuous supply to IT loads until generators take over.
Communications Communications facilities in Hall One are diversely provisioned to site using Vtesse's own National Fibre Optic network. The Vtesse Network offers IP VPN, Ethernet and Optical Wavelength services to national and international destinations. Hall One is also directly connected to many other UK commercial data centre and Telehotel facilities.
Equipment co-located in Hall One is easily connected to customer's existing communications services from other suppliers using relatively inexpensive Vtesse backhaul from cross-connects in leading Telehotels.
Service Remote hands services will be available on-site 24*7*365 for equipment and rack installation and de-commissioning and also for equipment moves, changes and adds. Lockable storage cabinets and cages will be available on-site for customer spares and other equipment.
Security The site is secure. It will be permanently manned and is protected externally by steel and wire fences and has a vehicle access control barrier. CCTV monitoring and recording facilities cover perimeter areas. Customer's cars, service and delivery vehicles may be parked within the secure compound.
Access security will be maintained throughout the building by use of a zoned access system.
Very Early Smoke Detection Alarms (VESDA) are to be fitted throughout the building and linked to security & fire station systems.
Site facilities Conference and meeting rooms may be configured on site as may office space for up to 100 staff. Desks in this area will all be equipped with mains power, telephone points and LAN cabling. Wired or wireless internet connectivity will be available for visiting staff on request.
