Metavisio Thomson Computing has announced plans for a state-of-the-art 260MW data center in Yeongwol-gun, Gangwon Province, South Korea. This ambitious project is a collaboration with BKB Energy Co., Ltd., a South Korean energy company, under a 50:50 joint venture named Technology 1 Thomson Computing Korea. The data center will leverage a 260MW power supply validated by Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) and is backed by a $900 million investment in convertible bonds.
The facility aligns with Metavisio's strategy to expand its high-performance computing infrastructure and strengthen its role in artificial intelligence and cloud computing technologies. Metavisio will supply key components, including GPUs and CPUs, through its supplier network, enhancing the center's capabilities. This project represents a significant step in advancing South Korea's digital infrastructure while promoting sustainable and innovative data center solutions.
