NAVER Gak Chuncheon

NAVER Gak Chuncheon is South Korea’s first eco-friendly data center, designed to operate in harmony with nature. Located at the foot of Gubongsan Mountain in Chuncheon, the facility benefits from the region’s lower average temperatures, allowing for extended use of natural wind cooling. Its V-shaped architecture optimizes airflow, reducing energy consumption while maintaining high operational efficiency.

The data center prioritizes sustainability, incorporating solar power generation, rainwater storage, and green rooftop spaces to minimize environmental impact. Waste heat from servers is repurposed for road heating in winter and greenhouse management, further enhancing energy efficiency. The facility also features high-density server racks and an advanced NAMU cooling system, developed by NAVER, to ensure stable and efficient operations.

Designed for resilience, Gak Chuncheon is built to withstand seismic activity and features a redundant power system for uninterrupted service. Its low-rise, terraced structure blends seamlessly with the natural landscape, reinforcing NAVER’s commitment to sustainable technology. As a pioneering green data center, Gak Chuncheon sets a benchmark for energy-efficient infrastructure in South Korea.
