SINES DC Campus, spearheaded by Start Campus, is set to become Europe's largest and most sustainable data center campus. With a groundbreaking IT capacity of 1.2 GW, it marks a significant milestone in the data center industry. The campus will utilize seawater cooling to minimize environmental impact and improve efficiency, showcasing a commitment to sustainability.
The first building of the campus, SIN01, is expected to be operational by Q4 2024, with an initial 14 MW of IT capacity, which is being expanded to 26 MW. Subsequent buildings, SIN02-06, will each support up to 240 MW of IT capacity and will be developed sequentially, with the entire campus projected to be operational by 2030.
This ambitious project not only advances the data center market with AI-ready and sustainable solutions but also supports the development of the Sines region, contributing to renewable energy developments in Portugal. With a total investment value of €8.5bn, SINES DC is poised to use 100% renewable energy and aims for an industry-leading PUE of 1.1.
