TIX - Tanzania Internet eXchange

The Tanzania Internet Exchange (TIX) is a pivotal project of the Tanzania Internet Service Providers Association (TISPA). As the first Internet Exchange Point (IXP) in Tanzania, TIX is strategically located on the 13th floor of Posta House in Dar es Salaam. It provides a neutral, reliable, and high-speed peering infrastructure that facilitates the exchange of internet traffic among local ISPs and network operators. By keeping local traffic within the country, TIX enhances internet performance, reduces latency, and lowers operational costs for its members. The exchange hosts route servers, Root DNS infrastructure, multiple Content Delivery Networks (CDNs), and offers both bi-lateral and multi-lateral peering options.
