It was founded by the three operational Internet Service Providers in Suriname—Telesur, Digicel, and Parbonet—along with other stakeholders including Datasur, AdeKUS, CBvS, DNV, E-Gov, KirpalaniKOM, and the Telecommunications Authority Suriname (TAS). The primary goal of SUR-IX is to keep local internet traffic within Suriname, reducing costs and enhancing security.
