YXEIX - Saskatoon Internet Exchange

The YXEIX, or Saskatoon Internet Exchange, is a not-for-profit organization that facilitates the interconnection of networks in Saskatchewan. By providing an open-access ethernet fabric, YXEIX enables networks to exchange traffic with low latency and high bandwidth, making it a cost-effective solution for local traffic exchange. This exchange is particularly beneficial for ISPs, transit providers, DNS services, and content networks, as it allows them to interconnect locally and improve the speed and efficiency of their services.

Traffic exchange at YXEIX is facilitated by the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), and networks must have an Autonomous System (AS) number to announce their routes. The exchange is located at Innovation Place and two separate downtown locations in Saskatoon. Participation costs $1200 per year, with additional costs for connecting into the locations.
