The Puerto Rico Internet Exchange (PR-IX) is dedicated to enhancing the quality and reducing the cost of interconnection between networks in Puerto Rico. PR-IX develops interconnection ecosystems that allow Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to connect to major Internet content providers, offering speeds of up to 100 Gbps with latency as low as 1ms. This significantly improves the Internet experience for customers by providing high-speed, low-latency, and cost-effective connectivity.

PR-IX's mission is to create and develop neutral Internet interconnection ecosystems in Puerto Rico, fostering the development of a local Internet with extremely high speed and low cost. The exchange points are located at various data centers, including Telxius CLS in San Juan, Netwave Data Center in San Juan, Aeronet POP in Guaynabo, FiberX Data Center in Guaynabo, and Engine-4 in Bayamón.

The service includes peering and Content Delivery Network (CDN) capabilities, allowing networks to exchange data locally and access more content and applications in real-time with greater capacity and lower latency. PR-IX is supported by a diverse group of members, including major companies like Google, Netflix, and Akamai.
