MIX Palermo - Milan Internet eXchange - Palermo

MIX Palermo, officially established in March 2020, is the first regional Internet Exchange (IX) of MIX with its own technical autonomy. Initially activated in 2017, this Point of Presence (PoP) is located within Open Hub Med, a founding member of MIX.

MIX Palermo serves as a dedicated peering environment for locally connected operators, facilitating efficient data exchange with minimal latency. This setup ensures that operators can exchange and access data using the shortest available routes, which is crucial for content operators requiring local platforms (caches) to improve access times.

The establishment of MIX Palermo marks a significant step in the decentralization of network services in Italy, leveraging high-performance and high-speed access technologies to create local interconnections. This approach is fundamental in enhancing the overall efficiency and performance of data exchange in the region.
