MIX Bologna - Milan Internet eXchange - Bologna

MIX Bologna, the tenth point of presence (PoP) of MIX, has been operational since March 2022. Located within BOIX, the Lepida datacenter, it serves as a key ICT services hub for the Emilia Romagna Region. This PoP is the second MIX location outside Lombardy, following the establishment of the Palermo PoP in 2017. MIX Bologna is designed as an autonomous Internet Exchange Point (IXP) with the primary goals of expanding local interconnection infrastructure and attracting Internet operators to the region. It ensures optimal latency, making it an excellent solution for content and service providers requiring minimal access times.

The activation of MIX Bologna is part of MIX's decentralization strategy, aimed at facilitating local data exchange and leveraging high-performance, high-speed access technologies. The PoP at Lepida also paves the way for future partnerships with public administrations and provides substantial support to sector operators needing closer proximity to Internet services.
