The Kuwait Internet Exchange (ix.kw) is a not-for-profit, carrier-neutral, community-directed Internet Exchange Point (IXP) that provides high-speed, reliable, and resilient IP traffic exchange facilities. It allows ISPs, mobile operators, and any entity with an AS number to interconnect and exchange traffic within Kuwait, accessing the rich market it offers. Located in the main landing station building (TEC), where major service providers like GCX, GCCIA, STC, and Mobily offer their services, ix.kw ensures that connecting from overseas is just a simple patch panel away.

Before ix.kw, all inter-network traffic, both domestic and foreign-bound, was exchanged through exchanges outside the country. This meant that ISPs had to send all outbound traffic through their international links, incurring significant costs. ix.kw provides an optimal path for peered traffic to reach other networks within Kuwait, freeing international links from congestion, enhancing data speeds, and reducing latency and costs. Launched in 2019, ix.kw has quickly become a crucial part of Kuwait's digital infrastructure, with all major ISPs and mobile operators in Kuwait becoming members.
