KINIX - KINshasa Internet eXchange

The KINshasa Internet eXchange (KINIX) is a key component of the RDC-IX project, which aims to establish neutral and associative Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) across various cities in the Democratic Republic of Congo. KINIX facilitates local traffic exchange between Internet operators within Kinshasa, ensuring that local traffic remains local and national traffic stays within the country. This reduces the reliance on international satellite links, thereby improving speed, service quality, and reliability while also contributing to the reduction of the digital divide.

KINIX operates under a non-profit model and is managed by ISPA-DRC. It supports multilateral peering and uses advanced technologies such as BGP V4, MPLS, IPv6, and multicast to enhance local content development and secure traffic exchange. The exchange point is designed to be a hub for local and international traffic convergence, providing a robust infrastructure for the growing digital needs of the region.
