GIX - Ghana Internet eXchange

The Ghana Internet eXchange (GIX) is a crucial facility that ensures Ghanaian Internet traffic remains within the country. By allowing local Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and Network Operators to exchange traffic locally, GIX significantly enhances connectivity and service quality for users in Ghana. This local traffic exchange reduces the dependency on international bandwidth, leading to cost savings and improved internet performance.

GIX is operated by the Ghana Internet eXchange Association (GIXA), an independent non-profit organization established by the Ghana Internet Service Providers Association (GISPA) and other stakeholders. The exchange is housed at the Ghana India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence and is open to all carriers who wish to exchange traffic locally, fostering a collaborative environment for the growth of the local ICT industry.
