Peering

Free-IX Switzerland is a pioneering Internet Exchange Platform that bridges the German, Italian, and French-speaking regions of Switzerland with high-speed fiber interconnects. With physical points of presence in Geneva, Zurich, and Lugano, Free-IX offers countrywide peering and interconnect services on a single platform. This exchange encourages the settlement-free, high-bandwidth exchange of network traffic between its members, leading to a higher quality, more resilient, and sustainable internet.

Free-IX supports both IPv4 and IPv6 protocols and ensures low-latency communication, with a latency of just 4ms between Geneva and Zurich over its fiber backbone network. The platform is designed to reduce the portion of an ISP's or CDN's traffic that must be delivered via upstream transit providers, thereby lowering the average per-bit delivery cost and reducing end-to-end latency. Free-IX is committed to an open and affordable internet, offering 1Gb and 10Gb Ethernet ports with no recurring costs.
