Nautilus Data Technologies is set to launch a €35 million floating data center in Limerick, Ireland, located on the River Shannon at James Casey Walk. This innovative facility will be housed on a barge and utilize water cooling technology, which eliminates the need for pumps and reduces energy consumption and CO2 emissions. The project also includes the demolition of a former electrical substation and the construction of a new industrial building for storage and office space, while preserving a historical clock tower on-site.
The data center is expected to create 125 jobs, including 100 construction roles and 25 permanent positions. Construction is underway, with the facility anticipated to be operational within 18 months. Nautilus aims to transform the site into a hub for sustainable and efficient digital infrastructure, marking a significant milestone in the company's expansion into Europe.
