Lancom's new Data center, Balkan Gate I, is located in the Kalochori area of Thessaloniki, on an initial plot of 2.500 m2, with a planned expansion to 10.000 m2. The construction is according to the TIER III specifications of the Uptime Institute, incorporating at each stage of its development, the most cutting-edge tech management systems for infrastructure, energy, and cooling. With total respect to the environment, Lancom has prioritized achieving the maximum energy efficiency for Balkan Gate I's operations, with an estimated project carbon footprint decrease at a scale of 19.000 tons per annum.
Balkan Gate I is gradually being directly connected with all main national, Balkan, and international telecommunications providers and operates exclusively as a carrier neutral data center. From the initial stages of its development, Balkan Gate I provide the full spectrum of Cloud and Data Center solutions, such as Colocation services, which will include anything from individual Rack Units to Rack Cages and Suites, Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity services. At the same time, it offers hosting for specialized Internet Exchange telecommunication services on a Balkan level, as well as global carrier-grade connectivity services. The new building expansion will house Larcom's R&D department on Cloud, Big Data, AI, and IoT, as well as an innovative hub that will host startup companies focusing on the aforementioned technologies.
