Wingu Africa's data center in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, represents a significant milestone as the country's first carrier-neutral and commercial data center. Located in the Ethio ICT Park, this Tier 3 facility boasts up to 800 racks and a robust 10MW of power capacity. The data center ensures maximum service availability with power supplied through two separate substations and multiple utility failure safeguards, including UPS and dual generators.
Connectivity is a cornerstone of the Addis Ababa data center, with services provided by local ISPs Websprix and Ethio Telecom through multiple feeds. This setup guarantees reliable access to national and metro networks, while international IP and cloud services are facilitated via redundant cross-border optical circuits. The center also features an Internet Exchange (IX) platform, optimizing traffic routing for the best user experience.
Physical infrastructure at the data center is designed with security and efficiency in mind. The facility houses 42U racks with an additional 200mm depth for optimal wiring, airflow, and access. Each cabinet is secured with unique locks, and the perforated front and back doors enable 86% airflow, maintaining the integrity of the equipment housed within.
