A Virtual Private Server is a virtual computer. The concept of a VPS is a powerful (hardware-based) server which is split into multiple virtual servers each with its own Operating System, reserved Processor power and its own memory. These virtual servers work physically on 1 bare metal server but work completely independently of each other. For example, Windows can work on the same hardware in addition to RedHat Linux. The individual Virtual Private Servers can therefore also be restarted separately from each other without the other servers being bothered by this.
