Digital Edge has established the PEK1 data center in Beijing through a partnership with Chuanjun Information Technology, a licensed nationwide data center operator in China. PEK1 represents Digital Edge's first facility operated by Chuanjun while utilizing Digital Edge's technology, expertise and services.
Located inside Beijing's Fifth Ring Road, the PEK1 data center offers a strategic location with easy access to the city's central business district. It provides 8,360 square meters of colocation space with capacity for over 1,800 cabinets and 7.8MW of total IT power capacity. The purpose-built facility features a seismic grade eight design to resist earthquakes.
The data center has a raised floor layout with 4.8 meter ceilings and a 10 kN/m2 floor load capacity. Its fire suppression systems include early smoke detection, FM200 gas suppression, and pre-action water sprinklers. Physical security measures cover 24/7 manned security, CCTV monitoring and biometric access controls.
On the power side, PEK1 offers redundant 2N UPS systems and N+1 backup generators with 24 hours of fuel reserve. It has a redundant N+2 air-cooled chiller plant for cooling. The data center targets an annualized PUE of 1.45.
PEK1 provides ample network connectivity options, including two meet-me rooms on the first floor and one on the second floor that can terminate up to 288 fiber cores per entry room. Access is available to all major telecom providers as well as cloud providers in the Beijing metro area.
The facility has obtained Level-A certification from the China Quality Certification Center. It is also certified for ISO 14001, 27001 and 45001 standards, as well as meeting Cybersecurity Protection Level 3 requirements.
