Eastlink's Data Centre at Pennant Point provides a co-location facility designed for mission critical IT operations requiring server hosting, data storage and disaster recover. The centre is equipped to TIA-942 Tier III requirements including dual source power, dual backup generators, dual UPS power, redundant air conditioning, dual power and communications distribution, Novec 1230 inert gas fire suppression, 7/24 site surveillance, 7/24 secure customer access. The site has diverse routed dual high capacity fibre optic connections to Eastlink's data network.
Power: The site has dual power entrance, dual UPS and dual backup generators. Together with A and B side power distribution to the suites and racks the ensures continued operation during maintenance activity.
Cooling: Environmental control systems designed for the communications industry provide rigid control of temperature and humidity. The system is designed with N+! redundancy.
Fire Detection and Suppression: The site is equipped with VESDA fire detection, Novec 1230 inert gas fire suppression and dual fused dry pipe water fire suppression.
Physical Security: The data centre is located in a site designed as a telecommunications satellite earth station and submarine cable landing site. The site is located on 30 secluded acres, 20 plus km from the City of Halifax, in a low seismic area. The entrance gate, and all building entrances are monitored and recorded using CCTV. All access points are controlled.
Network: Eastlink's Data Centre at Pennant Point is carrier neutral enabling customers to choose network service providers. Eastlink offers dual route diverse high capacity fibre optic connections to its data network as well as to other major Canadian carriers. Eastlink's network can provide direct connections to Canadian, US and European locations.
