The Rockbridge Area Network Authority's RAP Data Center is a purpose-built, dedicated Tier 2 Data and Colocation facility located on the outskirts of the City of Lexington in Rockbridge County, VA. The Rockbridge Area Network Authority (RANA) is a public authority that operates the RAP Data Center as well as the area-wide fiber optic network that was funded utilizing a federal BTOP grant and began service in 2014.

Businesses, universities, local governments as well as domestic and international carriers have all found a home for colocation service in our carrier-neutral RAP data center.

The RAP Data Center is nestled at the crossroads of Interstate 81 and 64 in Rockbridge County and offers unparalleled access to major U.S. markets, with over 65% of the U.S. population and 200,000 manufacturers within a 500-mile radius. Our location’s proximity to Virginia's ports and airports makes it ideal for local and international businesses. The Rockbridge area’s economy is diversified, with a strong focus on manufacturing, trade, services, and agriculture. Three small universities are also located in the area. From textiles to industrial goods, Rockbridge County's manufacturing sector thrives on natural resources. Its bustling trade networks and vibrant service industry enrich the region's economic landscape, while agriculture remains a vital cornerstone of its rural heritage.

The RAP Data Center offers full cabinets, portions of a cabinet, and separate cage space for colocation customers. We are here to meet your current colocation needs and beyond.

RAP Data Center Features
• 12,400 square feet raised floor with a design power load of 100kVA.
• Two 100kVA UPS systems and a 350-kW standby generator to ensure your equipment keeps running in the event of a power outage in the area.
• Power delivered on the floor by dual power distribution units so that each cabinet has power supplied by an A and B bus.
• Three 20-ton CRAC air handlers supply cool air to the floor. For redundancy, two of the CRACs can cool the floor at design load.
• Inert gas suppression fire systems protect the raised floor and a separate electrical room.
• We provide a dark facility with remote monitoring and video surveillance inside and out.
•Limited Remote Hands on a case-by-case basis.
