At GreenQloud we call our commitment to real GreenIT and Sustainability: “Truly Green”. Why “truly” green? Well, we felt that too many have abused the term “green” for us to use it to properly describe the lengths we will go to for pure sustainability in IT, Truly Green IT.
Where does our drive for come from?
In 2007 Gartner reported that the IT industry was responsible for approximately 2% of global green house gas emissions. Equivalent to the aviation industry at the time! Since then the number of data centers world wide have surpassed 500.000 and their massive need for energy is contributing, in a big way, to the climate change crisis because the majority of them use dirty energy sources. Secondly, being from Iceland we saw a great potential in using our abundance of 100% renewable energy, the great strategic location of Iceland and our team’s decades of enterprise development and hosting to create a cloud based solution to IT’s climate change threat.

In short we put a lot of thought into defining Truly Green as our commitment to:
To run a sustainable public compute cloud that is 100% carbon neutral
To use renewable energy and not carbon offsets to meet our goals
To enable our customers to see their live energy metrics and carbon savings
To ensure credibility and full environmental management by ISO 14001 certification
Our Truly Green brand serves as a guarantee of GreenQloud’s commitment to providing high-quality sustainable cloud computing services to our customers and our core focus to make it easy and inexpensive to reduce the carbon emissions of IT.
